A round-up of this week’s crime across the Ferris campus

Expired plate

On Nov. 3 at 9:50 p.m., officers stopped a vehicle on Perry Street for having an expired plate. The driver was found to have altered the tag and was ticketed.

Assault complaint

On Nov. 4 at 5:30 p.m., officers investigated an assault complaint in Bond Hall. One resident assaulted another resident. Housing moved parties to different locations and a warrant request was sent to the prosecutor’s office.

Car broken into

On Oct. 28 at 9:40 p.m., there was a report of a car broken into in Lot 44. Sunglasses and a cell phone charger were taken.

Property damage

On Oct. 28 at 8 p.m., there was a report of damaged property in Brophy Hall. The damage was caused by roommates playing with a ball and appeared to be accidental in nature.

Fake ID

On Oct. 29 at 11:40 p.m., there was a report of a person attempting to use another person’s student ID card for a meal at the Rock Café.

Wallet stolen

On Oct. 31 at 10:30 a.m., there was a report of a wallet taken out of a room in Cramer Hall. The theft occurred sometime the previous evening.

Car-bike accident

On Oct. 29 at 8:30 p.m., there was a report of a car-bike accident on the sidewalk of State Street and Lot 33. The crash occurred at noon, but the bicyclist reported the crash later that evening. Officers located the driver of the automobile to complete the crash report.

Laundry card theft

On Oct. 30 at 12:01 a.m., there was a report of a laundry card theft in East Campus Apartments. The card was left in the laundry room and was found by another resident who used the card improperly. The student was referred to the Office of Student Conduct.

Disorderly person

On Oct. 30 at 12:05 a.m., there was a report of a disorderly person at the Rock Café. A student was yelling at another student and was removed from the building by campus police.

Reckless driving

On Nov. 3 at 11:45 p.m., officers stopped a vehicle for reckless driving on Campus Drive near Vandercook Hall. The subject was lodged in the county jail.

MIP near Carlisle

On Nov. 3 at 2:45 a.m., officers encountered an intoxicated student outside Carlisle Hall. The student was ticketed for MIP and transported to his residence hall.

OWI at the Gate

On Nov. 3 at 12:50 a.m., officers stopped a vehicle in the Gate parking lot. The driver was found to be intoxicated and was lodged in the county jail.

Drunk driver hits hydrant

On Nov. 4 at 1:45 a.m., there was a report of a one-car accident on State Street near Ferris Drive. The vehicle left the roadway and hit a fire hydrant. The driver was located a short distance away, found to be intoxicated and lodged in the county jail.

Two-car accident

On Nov. 1 at 4:30 p.m., there was a report of a two-car accident in Lot 36. A car backing out of a parking space was struck by another vehicle driving through the lot.

Bike stolen

On Oct. 31 at 10:20 p.m., there was a report of a bike stolen from outside Travis Hall.

Ticket Totals: From Oct. 30 through Nov. 6, the Department of Public Safety identified 378 violators. Each violator was ticketed for a total of $6,170. Actual amount depends on whether the ticket was paid, voided or reduced.
