Chad Billins up for Lowe’s Senior Class Award

This past Wednesday Chad Billins of the FSU hockey team was nominated for the Lowe’s Senior Class Award. Billins has helped lead the Bulldogs into first place in the CCHA. He currently is a co-captain of the Bulldog hockey team and leads the defense in points scored. Billins has racked up four goals and 15 assists for a total of 19 points from the blue line. To be nominated for this award a senior student-athlete must excel in four areas of life: the classroom, character, community and competition. Billins was named to a 20-member nominee list in October, but the list was cut in half this past week and Billins made the cut. The nationwide vote for the award has started and will conclude March 18.

Signing day a successful one for the Bulldogs

Feb. 1 was National Signing Day for all colleges and committed athletic prospects sent in their letters of intent to officially be enrolled in their school of choice. Bulldog football concluded its 2011-12 recruiting efforts by inking 31 total players with 18 of those coming on the defensive side of the ball. The focus for FSU’s recruiting efforts was in-state as 28 of their 31 committed prospects hailed from Michigan. However, one of the headliners of the class played his high school football in Florida. Antonio Agurs, who was a state champion running back, has been tabbed as a player to watch in the future. Next up for the Bulldog football team is the start of spring practice in March.
