Eisler No Longer FSU President?

Ferris State University President Dave Eisler has been announced as one of three final­ists for Northern Kentucky University’s pres­i­dent search.

Interviewing with NKU’s pres­i­den­tial search com­mit­tee March 10, Eisler was nom­i­nated for the posi­tion by his higher edu­ca­tion colleagues.

Eisler who has been pres­i­dent of FSU for nine years said now is a rea­son­able time to con­sider his future at FSU. (more…)

 
 
 

It’s Not Over

The Ferris State Hockey team will con­tinue on their jour­ney this year in the tour­na­ment as the sec­ond seed pick of the Midwest Regional.

The Bulldogs waited for their fate Sunday March 18 to see if this year they would par­tic­i­pate in the NCAA Division I Frozen Four Tournament. This will be only the sec­ond time that the Bulldogs have been selected for the NCAA tournament.

First game of the tour­na­ment will be against third seed Denver on March 23 in Green Bay, Wis. If vic­to­ri­ous, the Bulldogs will face­off on Saturday against the win­ners of the Michigan-Cornell game. At 5:30 p.m. Ferris has tick­ets avail­able at the box office for fans inter­ested in fol­low­ing the team this weekend.

Hockey CCHA Quarterfinals Against BGSU

Ferris State hockey faced off Bowling Green State for the CCHA quar­ter­fi­nals and dropped two games in over­time in the best-of-three series. Games’ one and three on Friday and Sunday both went to over­time, with the Falcons win­ning by 3–2 and 4–3 respec­tively. The lone Bulldog win hap­pened on Saturday with a 7–4 vic­tory. Sunday’s piv­otal game three started with three goals by FSU in the first period but Bowling Green State tied up the game took it into over­time. And 2:38 into the sud­den death over­time, Bowling Green State University won the game and series.

FSU to host Bowling Green State for the second round of the CCHA playoffs

After their first round bye, Ferris State hockey con­tin­ues in their pur­suit of the Mason Cup by tak­ing on Bowling Green State this week­end. The Falcons upset Northern Michigan in the first round after enter­ing the CCHA play­offs as the low­est seeds.

FSU and BGSU are fac­ing off for their third series this year. During their four reg­u­lar sea­son face­offs, the Bulldogs won all four games by at least a two goal mar­gin after scor­ing at least four goals them­selves. (more…)

Small set­back

Lady Bulldogs took the GLIAC North Division title, a win over Findley Wednesday, a vic­tory against Tiffin Dragons in GLIAC semi­fi­nals Saturday, and a loss to Ashland Sunday.

Ferris took on the Dragons Saturday March 3 with a win 53–39 to move on in the tour­na­ment. But the Bulldogs fell short to fourth-ranked Ashland Sunday March 4 65–50. (more…)

CCHA regular season champions finished off the season by hosting Western Michigan

Although the Bulldogs lost 3–0 against the Broncos of Western Michigan, Saturday’s game meant more than just a reg­u­lar sea­son finale. It was senior night, hon­or­ing eight Bulldog play­ers before the game with a lone skate around the rink. And after the game, the team was pre­sented with the CCHA reg­u­lar sea­son tro­phy. Ferris State had secured a first round bye of the CCHA play­offs due to a first place reg­u­lar sea­son fin­ish. The Bulldogs return to the ice in a sec­ond round series on March 9, 10, and 11th against the low­est seeded team.

Weekend Matchup: Hockey vs Western Michigan

As the final week­end of the reg­u­lar sea­son, #1 nation­ally ranked FSU hockey team plays Western Michigan. On Friday night, the Bulldogs will travel down to Kalamazoo to take on the Broncos while on Saturday, the Bulldogs will host the last reg­u­lar sea­son game. Saturday’s home game will be Senior Night where the eight FSU seniors will be hon­ored before the start of the game. Hockey vs Bowling Green State Photo Gallery

This week­end, Ferris State hockey secure at least co-champions of the CCHA reg­u­lar sea­son title thanks to a week­end sweep against Bowling Green State and a win by Lake Superior State over Western Michigan on Saturday night. The Bulldogs con­tributed by sweep­ing the Falcons at home for a six point week­end. On Friday, FSU won 5–1 while on Saturday, they defeated the Falcons 4–1.

The Bulldogs fin­ish the reg­u­lar sea­son with a home-and-home series ver­sus Western Michigan.

 
 
 

Weekend Matchup: Hockey vs Bowling Green

This week­end, the #1 Bulldog hockey, both in the CCHA and nation­ally, face­off against Bowling Green State Falcons. The two teams already played one week­end series in Bowling Green, with Ferris secur­ing the week­end sweep with a 4–0 and a 5–3 win. Bowling Green is cur­rently sit­ting in last place in the CCHA con­fer­ence stand­ings with a 9−18−5 over­all record while Ferris State enters the week­end with a 20−8−4 record. Ferris State last week­end became the first team in the NCAA Division 1 hockey to reach 20 wins in the sea­son. (more…)
