Hockey vs Bowling Green State Photo Gallery

This week­end, Ferris State hockey secure at least co-champions of the CCHA reg­u­lar sea­son title thanks to a week­end sweep against Bowling Green State and a win by Lake Superior State over Western Michigan on Saturday night. The Bulldogs con­tributed by sweep­ing the Falcons at home for a six point week­end. On Friday, FSU won 5–1 while on Saturday, they defeated the Falcons 4–1.

The Bulldogs fin­ish the reg­u­lar sea­son with a home-and-home series ver­sus Western Michigan.

 
 
 

Weekend Matchup: Hockey vs Bowling Green

This week­end, the #1 Bulldog hockey, both in the CCHA and nation­ally, face­off against Bowling Green State Falcons. The two teams already played one week­end series in Bowling Green, with Ferris secur­ing the week­end sweep with a 4–0 and a 5–3 win. Bowling Green is cur­rently sit­ting in last place in the CCHA con­fer­ence stand­ings with a 9−18−5 over­all record while Ferris State enters the week­end with a 20−8−4 record. Ferris State last week­end became the first team in the NCAA Division 1 hockey to reach 20 wins in the sea­son. (more…)

 
 
 

Meme Madness

New FSU Meme page goes viral overnight

On Monday, February 6, Matt (who’s last name was asked to be kept anony­mous) launched the Ferris State Memes page. After shar­ing a few of the ini­tial memes, things got rolling, and fast.

With more than 1000 likes and 300 sub­mis­sions overnight, Matt had struck inter­net gold, get­ting the idea from other recent uni­ver­sity meme pages. The page now has over 3,000 likes. One big dif­fer­ence that have stu­dents report­ing mixed feel­ings is the page mod­er­a­tion. While for other schools, upload is pub­lic, Ferris keeps the wall closed to fil­ter out any inap­pro­pri­ate, or—quite frankly—not funny con­tent, as Matt and another mod­er­a­tor receive sub­mis­sions and review them for post­ing. Now #1 FSU Hockey vs Notre Dame Photo Gallery

After defeat­ing Notre Dame at South Bend 3–0, the FSU hockey team returned to Big Rapids to con­tinue their streak of not los­ing a game in 2012. To a sold out crowd at the Ewigleben Ice Arena, the Bulldogs got two quick goals by Nate Milam and Chad Billins. Notre Dame was forced to pull their goalie after let­ting two goals in on three shots. (more…)

Hockey vs Michigan State Photo Gallery

#10 Ferris State hockey faced off against #16 Michigan State and sweep the Spartans at home. On Friday, the Bulldogs won 2–1 and on Saturday, the score was 4–3. Both games were filled to capac­ity with a sold out crowd. The wins pro­pelled the Bulldogs to #1 in the CCHA con­fer­ence. Next week­end, they travel to Northern Michigan to play a week­end series against the Wildcats.

To start the semes­ter off, Entertainment Unlimited brought Breaks8 to the Williams Auditorium to per­form their unique dance tools: roller­skates. With a large crowd of stu­dents and com­mu­nity mem­bers, the group, which became a national hit by com­pet­ing on MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew, daz­zled audi­ences. In addi­tion to their own danc­ing, mem­bers of the crowd were also brought on stage to join in on the fun. (more…)

 
 
 

Bomb Threat on Campus

Ferris State University Public Safety offi­cials are inves­ti­gat­ing a “non-specific” bomb threat phone mes­sage that was received after 8 a.m. this morn­ing (Thursday, Jan. 12) in the Business Office in the Timme Center for Student Services.

There were no spe­cific infor­ma­tion in the mes­sage as to time or loca­tion of the bomb threat. Also, there is no rea­son to believe that the threat is tied to any spe­cific event or cir­cum­stance. (more…)

Tony Annese Hired as New FSU Head Football Coach

Ferris introduces new head coach with high hopes for next season

Ferris State University ended their nation­wide search for a head coach Dec. 22 by appoint­ing Tony Annese as head coach of the Bulldogs foot­ball program.

After com­pil­ing a 30–4 record over three years as the head coach of the Grand Rapids Community College foot­ball pro­gram, Annese will replace for­mer Ferris coach Jeff Pierce as head coach for Ferris in 2012. (more…)
