FSU men’s and women’s track and field season return to competition for the 2012 campaign

The Ferris State run­ners are back in action for another go around in 2012 as selected mem­bers of the team par­tic­i­pated in a scrimmage-type event hosted by Grand Valley State University.

The un-scored Bob Eubanks Open fea­tured ath­letes from numer­ous col­leges includ­ing Michigan State, South Florida and Notre Dame among oth­ers. (more…)

Ferris is racking up wins as they resume GLIAC play

The Bulldogs have com­piled a 7–1 con­fer­ence record up to this point of the season.

The Bulldogs came back to Big Rapids to face non-conference foe Urbana University on Jan. 11. Ferris’ defense kept Urbana under 50 points and forced them to shoot 30-percent from the field, while the Bulldogs went on to win 82–47. The game fea­tured 10 steals, 48 rebounds, and 25 points scored off of turnovers for the Bulldogs. (more…)

FSU men’s basketball team defeats Northwood 74-69 in overtime win

Fans were treated to an extra five min­utes of Bulldog bas­ket­ball as the Ferris State University men’s bas­ket­ball team defeated Northwood University 74–69 in over­time Saturday after­noon at Jim Wink Arena.

The con­fer­ence win moved the Bulldogs into a share of first place in the divi­sional stand­ings. FSU improved to 9–6 over­all and 6–2 in GLIAC action this cam­paign. (more…)

Ferris State University has come back from win­ter break win­ning three of their last four games. They’ll now pre­pare to face nation­ally 2nd-ranked Ohio State this weekend.

The Bulldogs made their return to con­fer­ence play against the Alaska Nanooks Jan. 13–14 at the Ewigleben Ice Arena in Big Rapids. (more…)

Two Bulldog hockey play­ers up for pres­ti­gious Hobey Baker Award

Senior defense­man, who always serves as cap­tain, Chad Billens and senior goal­tender Taylor Nelson are two of the top 77 play­ers who were nom­i­nated for the Hobey Baker award. This award is annu­ally given to the nation’s top hockey player. Hobey Baker was a top hockey player at Princeton University and a World War I vet­eran. The Hobey Baker award not only reflects a player’s tal­ents and achieve­ments on the ice, but also the char­ac­ter and integrity of the ath­lete off of the ice. FSU men’s basketball team falls to Saginaw Valley, defeats Lake Superior State

The Ferris State University men’s bas­ket­ball team played two very dif­fer­ent sec­ond halves against Saginaw Valley State University and Lake Superior State University. The dif­fer­ent halves resulted in dif­fer­ent out­comes: one win and one loss.

FSU allowed SVSU to uti­lize a big sec­ond half as the Cardinals defeated the vis­it­ing Bulldogs 79–59 Saturday. (more…)
