Officers bust marijuana users in Santer Nature Preserve

A round-up of this week’s crimes across the Ferris campus

Intoxicated driver
On Sept. 6 at 2:33 a.m., officers stopped a vehicle for defective equipment on State Street. Investigation revealed that the 25-year-old male driver was intoxicated. He was lodged in the county jail.

Marijuana complaint
On Sept. 7 at 10:50 p.m., officers investigated a marijuana complaint in the Santer Nature Preserve, located south of Cramer Hall. As a result of the investigation, one subject was lodged in the county jail for possession of marijuana. A warrant request was sent to the prosecutor’s office for two subjects using marijuana. One subject was ticketed for MIP.

Theft complaint
On Sept. 8 at 8:45 p.m., there was a report of a theft complaint in Cramer Hall. Three victims had various pieces of property taken from their dorm room. The suspect was identified and a warrant request was sent to the prosecutor’s office.

Another disorderly subject
On Sept. 6 at 11:55 p.m., officers assisted staff in Hallisy Hall with a disorderly subject. One subject was arrested and lodged in the county jail for disorderly conduct

Wrong way
On Sept. 9 at 5 p.m., officers stopped a vehicle for disregarding a traffic control device. The driver was ticketed for driving on a suspended license.

Stolen bike
On Sept. 10 at 12:30 p.m., there was a report of a bicycle stolen from the bike rack at Puterbaugh Hall.

Bike theft
On Sept. 5 at 11 p.m., there was a report of a bicycle stolen from the bike rack at Brophy-McNerney Hall.

Reckless driver
On Sept. 7 at 1:55 a.m., there was a report of a reckless driver in the area of the Sports Complex. The suspect was identified and referred to the Office of Student Conduct.

Theft at the Rock
On Sept. 12 at 5 p.m., there was a report of a cell phone stolen from the women’s restroom in the Rock Café. The theft occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m. that day.

Theft at Sports Complex
On Sept. 11 at 3 p.m., there was a report of a cell phone stolen from the men’s locker room at the Sports Complex.

Assisting city police
On Sept. 12 at 2:10 p.m., officers assisted the city police in serving a search warrant on Division Street.

Ticket Totals: From Sept. 5 through 12, the Department of Public Safety reported 623 total violations. Each violator was ticketed for a total $11,470. The actual amount depends on if the ticket is paid, reduced or voided.
