Early Holiday Present

Fate of the NBA season no longer at jeopardy, but at what cost?

by Published: Dec 1, 2011

Thanksgiving. Some think of it as a break from the daily bustle to sit down and spend time with family and friends. NBA fans may now think of Thanksgiving as a time when NBA players and owners came together to settle on the 2011-12 season.

While frantic pepper spray wielding consumers rushed Wal-marts, Best Buys, and other retailers in hopes for mega markdowns, the NBA came together to finalize a deal on Black Friday. (more…)

GLIAC adds more competition to its roster

The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has expanded by the addition of two universities from Ohio. Malone University and Walsh University will officially become members in the conference on July 1, 2012. Malone and Walsh Universities will join a league that has 14 full members. Until the NCAA grants each institution full Division II membership, Malone and Walsh will be provisional members of the GLIAC. For the 2012–13 season, Malone and Walsh will not be eligible for GLIAC postseason championships or tournaments for sports that have an NCAA Division II automatic qualification.

Mandated drug testing is a waste of time

by Published: Nov 2, 2011

Current and incoming students at Ferris deserve to have the right to a private life that is not intruded on by our university.

With mandated drug testing, the university would be doing just that. Last week, an article in the Torch was published concerning mandated drug tests. Don’t worry; you don’t have to start chugging gallons of water to flush your system. There won’t be any drug testing. (more…)
