With Election Day 2010 less than a week away, the GOP is poised to make seri­ous gains at both the state and national levels.

In this elec­tion, all 435 seats in the U.S. House of Representatives and 37 U.S. Senate posi­tions are up for grabs. In Michigan leg­is­la­ture, all 38 state sen­ate and all 110 state rep­re­sen­ta­tive seats are up for reelec­tion as well. (more…)

For stu­dents stay­ing in Big Rapids this sum­mer who are look­ing for some­thing to do, there is a star-studded lineup this con­cert sea­son in the sur­round­ing area.

Nickelback will be bring­ing their Dark Horse World Tour to Van Andel Arena on May 19. Breaking Benjamin, Shinedown, and Sick Puppies will accom­pany them on the tour. (more…)

A pair of nesting osprey on campus has become an important part of classroom curricula nationally and worldwide

A pair of nest­ing osprey at Ferris has inspired the uni­ver­sity to take action in a project that has become an inter­net sensation.

The Osprey Web Cam Project was ini­ti­ated in the fall of 2008 in hopes to broad­cast images of nest­ing osprey for the Ferris com­mu­nity and sur­round­ing area. (more…)

 
 

Air Conditioning Project Under Way

An extensive heating, air conditioning and ventilation project for the Arts and Sciences Complex has been approved by the Board of Trustees and the renovations have begun

Early this month, the Ferris Board of Trustees approved a new heat­ing and air con­di­tion­ing project for the Arts and Sciences Complex.

The project entails the instal­la­tion of a new heat­ing, ven­ti­la­tion and air con­di­tion­ing sys­tem in the Arts and Sciences Complex. This includes the Science and Starr Buildings, The Arts and Sciences Commons and G. Mennen Williams Auditorium. (more…)

The end of the school year can mean added stress and anxiety for the typical college student

The end of the semes­ter is only weeks away and for most stu­dents they have only one thing on their minds: summer.

The only prob­lem with mak­ing it to the end of the school year is get­ting through the last few weeks with those dreaded final exams, the term papers that need to be fin­ished, and maybe the wor­ry­ing about those cou­ple of course grades that could use a lit­tle boost. (more…)

Pep Band to Miss Student Conductor

Student conductor Jason Workman is set to graduate this spring

The FSU Athletic Pep Band is pre­pared to lose a valu­able mem­ber as stu­dent con­duc­tor Jason Workman is going to grad­u­ate this spring.

The pep band per­forms and leads cheers at bas­ket­ball, foot­ball, hockey and vol­ley­ball games.

“We try to pro­vide a lively and fun atmos­phere while stay­ing pos­i­tive,” said Workman. (more…)

Ferris Hosts State Energy Conference

Last week Ferris hosted the annual Michigan Energy Conference that, this year, fol­lowed the theme “Conserve and Convert, Together Brings Solutions!”

The Energy Center, which falls within the College of Engineering Technology, looks to develop Ferris’ resources and activ­i­ties in energy-related issues and is one of the dri­ving forces behind the two-day con­fer­ence. (more…)
