Ferris hockey’s CJ Motte is fifth in the nation in min­utes played this season.

Had the junior goal­tender started on Jan. 25 vs. Michigan Tech, he would be just six min­utes behind sec­ond in the nation in min­utes played.

That was not the case dur­ing the Saturday night series finale against the Huskies. Instead, sopho­more Charles Williams took to the crease. (more…)

 
 
 

Bulldogs Barking Up the Poll

FSU Hockey climbed 9 spots into the top 10

Ferris State Hockey is climb­ing the National Polls and cur­rently ranked as num­ber ten in the nation as of Nov. 18, 2013.

Bulldog hockey was pre­vi­ously ranked at num­ber 19 at the begin­ning of November. Ferris is also highly ranked nation­ally with their over­all scor­ing, hold­ing the num­ber three spot.

Including their national accom­plish­ments, the team is in charge at the num­ber one spot in the WCHA con­fer­ence. (more…)

Ferris State Hockey’s Justin Buzzeo has burst into the spot­light on the stat sheet in the first ten games of the season.

Buzzeo has six goals under his belt, which sup­ple­ment his 14 points. He is ranked at the top of the Bulldogs’ scor­ing sheet this season.

“I feel as though the coaches have given me a larger role on the team this year, allow­ing me to pro­duce more,” Buzzeo said. “Confidence is key. You can’t over­think the game; you just have to go out there and play.” (more…)

Ferris State Hockey took con­trol of the series against Bowling Green this week­end when they roared back with a win on Nov. 16.

They remain atop the con­fer­ence, and have 11 of the pos­si­ble 12 points in their six con­fer­ence match ups.

The Falcons jumped in front when Kevin Dufour scored at 12:37 in the first. The next BGSU and then they added a goal that was scored by Matt Pohlkamp. (more…)

The Ferris State women’s bas­ket­ball team is con­tin­u­ing to stay sharp dur­ing their down­time this season.

The Lady Bulldogs have a large gap in their sea­son that started Oct. 30 and doesn’t end until Nov. 23.

“The large gap between our games just gives our team the chance to keep improv­ing and work­ing on all the things we need to get bet­ter at,” senior guard Sarah DeShone said. “I know we are all very anx­ious to get started, though. (more…)

 
 
 

Bulldogs Push Win Streak to Six Straight

Ferris sweeps Bemidji State, takes sole possession of first in WCHA

The nation­ally ranked #19 Ferris State Hockey team left the Bemidji State Beavers in the dust in a Nov. 9 5–3 win at Ewigleben.

The win gave the Bulldogs sole pos­ses­sion of first place in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association.

The Bulldogs dom­i­nated the Beavers in the first period leav­ing a lop­sided 4–0 mark on the score­board, includ­ing an 18–2 lead in shots. (more…)

Bulldogs team up with Eagle Village

Ferris Football played with a pur­pose on Saturday, Nov. 2 when they part­nered with Eagle Village to raise aware­ness for child abuse prevention.

The game was played against Wayne State and was pre­sented as “Kids Day.” The chil­dren were able to inter­act with Brutus, the play­ers, and enjoy fun activ­i­ties dur­ing the game.

“It was great to see a relay race orches­trated by an out­side party that took full reigns of the project,” ath­let­ics com­mu­ni­ca­tion direc­tor and voice of Bulldog hockey said Dom Hennig. (more…)

Freshman set­ter Stephanie Sikorski, set­ting up the ball for her team­mate, has proven her­self time and again as a key team player through­out the sea­son as the start­ing set­ter for the women’s vol­ley­ball team.

Some may say being the set­ter isn’t always the most glam­orous or high-profile job in volleyball.

However, fresh­man Stephanie Sikorski is putting up excel­lent num­bers in her capac­ity as the start­ing set­ter for the Ferris State women’s vol­ley­ball team.

Sikorski, of Rochester, was offered a spot on the Bulldog team in March of her junior year of high school. While vol­ley­ball was the sport she was in love with, the idea of being a set­ter was not. (more…)

The Ferris State Hockey team’s offen­sive lines are mak­ing adjust­ments for this com­ing season.

The Bulldogs lost their top two scor­ing for­wards in Travis Ouellete and Kyle Bonis, which allows for a lot of play­ing time for the team’s younger group.

The for­wards feel their Junior Hockey expe­ri­ence really helped pre­pare them for what the col­le­giate league brings. (more…)

The Ferris State women’s soc­cer team has found their foot­ing fol­low­ing a slow start to the season.

Despite a 6–0 loss at Grand Valley State, there is rea­son for opti­mism going into the sec­ond half of the season.

Victories over Saginaw Valley State, Malone and Walsh have pro­pelled the Bulldogs back into the race for GLIAC con­tention in the past two weeks. (more…)
