Gripping a Lie

I believe safety is a good thing and lying is wrong.

With that said, an employee work­ing at Ferris’ Student Recreation Center told my work out part­ner that he or any­one else is not allowed to use weight lift­ing chalk in the weight room because it is a safety haz­ard. Those were her exact words. I remem­ber them very dis­tinctly because my imme­di­ate thought upon hear­ing those words was “that state­ment is com­pletely ridicu­lous, not to men­tion 100 per­cent false.” (more…)

Teams run strong against field of over 100

The Bulldogs ran in the Great Louisville Cross Country Classic which was the first scor­ing event of the year.

The women’s team ran to a 10th-place fin­ish in the 5k event which con­sisted of just under 100 teams. The women’s team is cur­rently ranked 10th nation­ally in the United States Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches Association Division II Poll. (more…)

The Bulldogs got back to their win­ning ways on the hard court this past week­end as they topped Lake Superior State and Michigan Tech.

The women showed no ill effects from los­ing their first match of the year last week against Northwood as they steam­rolled Lake Superior State to start off their week­end. (more…)

Ferris State women’s golf fin­ished first in con­vinc­ing fash­ion in the Lake Superior Invitational.

In the first round the women shot a field lead­ing 316 and then for an encore shot a 326 for a total of 642, which was 29 shots ahead of second-place fin­isher Northwood University. (more…)

Ferris State cross coun­try is off and run­ning as both the men and the women par­tic­i­pated in the Northwood Open on Sept. 3.

The vet­eran run­ners were held out of the race as the event served as an exhi­bi­tion for the younger ath­letes on both teams. Head coach Steve Picucci thought the young run­ners per­formed well. (more…)

 
 

Striking Fear

Possibility of a strike is nothing to joke about

After the first week of classes the vast major­ity of stu­dents have learned that there was (and still is) the pos­si­bil­ity of the Ferris State teach­ers going on strike.

From within my classes or just walk­ing around cam­pus, I can­not even begin to count the times that I heard stu­dents say­ing some­thing in ref­er­ence to hop­ing the teach­ers would go on strike. Now, while their moti­va­tion behind these state­ments is not hard to imag­ine, these short-sighted com­ments are not very intel­li­gent. (more…)
