Being involved in a registered student organization (RSO) is an aspect of college life that many Ferris students experience.

A RSO is a group of Ferris students with a similar interest in an activity, subject or cause.

Ferris has over 200 RSO’s, so finding one that sparks interest should be fairly easy.

Students participate in helping clean up Big Rapids by volunteering for the Big Event. This event is held during spring semester.

Students who desire contributing to a greater good, opportunities for new friendship, and building their resume can take advantage of the many service options Ferris offers.

The volunteering choices at Ferris range from doing yard work for residents of Big Rapids to 5k runs to RSO-specific service.

A scholarship to cover the extra cost of a single room, priority registration, an extremely supportive staff—what college student wouldn’t want to join a program that offers these perks?

Ferris students in the Honors Program experience such advantages, but at a cost. With requirements such as participating in an RSO, reporting on cultural events, completing volunteer hours, and taking honors courses, many students join for the benefits and groan their way through the requirements. International Student Organization seeks to connect students of different cultures

Every year, members of Big Rapids and Ferris are invited to experience food, dance and other traditions of the various cultures represented by the many international students at Ferris. Here a young boy learns how to use chopsticks at the China booth.

Big Rapids, a small, traditional Midwest town, doesn’t offer many opportunities to interact with cultures from around the globe. However, one Ferris RSO is trying to change that.

The International Student Organization (ISO) seeks to unite community members and students across campus with the world by celebrating diversity at Ferris with friendship, awareness, leadership and activities. (more…)
