Bulldogs go 3-3 over the weekend to start GLIAC play

After a rough spring break road trip in Florida, the Bulldogs began GLIAC con­fer­ence play on the road with mixed results, going 3–3 on the weekend.

Ferris began the week­end with a series sweep over con­fer­ence new­comer Lake Erie on March 25 before split­ting a dou­ble­header against Ohio Dominican on March 26. The Bulldogs fin­ished the week­end get­ting swept by Ashland in a two-game series on March 27. (more…)

Ferris goalie Pat Nagle signs with NHL’s Tampa Bay Lightning

After a stel­lar sea­son between the pipes for the Bulldogs, senior goalie Pat Nagle will take his tal­ents to the NHL after sign­ing a two-year con­tract with the Tampa Bay Lightning on March 22.

“I have enjoyed every part of hockey thus far and I am just look­ing for­ward to the next expe­ri­ence,” said Nagle. “But I still have a long ways to go until I have a chance to play in the NHL.” (more…)

It was a mag­i­cal run for the Bulldogs this post­sea­son, but it all came to an end after an 85–66 defeat at the hands of Bellarmine on March 15.

The Bulldogs made their exit from the NCAA Tournament as the Knights outscored Ferris 48–27 in the sec­ond half to pull away with the vic­tory. Ferris trailed 39–37 at half­time. (more…)

Two Bulldog seniors sign deals with minor-league hockey teams

With the 2010-11 sea­son wrapped up after an early exit from the CCHA Tournament, two Bulldog hockey play­ers have received a chance to con­tinue their play­ing careers.

Senior defense­man Scott Wietecha and senior left wing Mike Embach have both signed with pro­fes­sional hockey clubs after an 18−16−5 cam­paign in their final sea­sons’ at Ferris. (more…)

Turn on SportsCenter and see the star quar­ter­back get­ting all the post-game attention.

The front page of the next day’s local sports sec­tion is pasted with pho­tos of the point guard who nailed the game-winning shot. But it’s an unlikely sight to see the team lift­ing the trainer on their shoul­ders after they’ve helped the star run­ning back rehab a bru­tal knee injury. (more…)

Focusing on one game at a time has propelled FSU to success this season

There are cer­tain things that come to mind once March rolls around: Making a trip down south for spring break, plan­ning out the “activ­i­ties” for St. Patty’s Day and get­ting excited for a 40 degree day.

But while St. Patty’s Day may get the atten­tion as the offi­cial hol­i­day of the month, there is one hol­i­day that may not be on the cal­en­dar, but is respon­si­ble for single-handedly killing work­place pro­duc­tiv­ity and caus­ing heartache and jubi­la­tion. (more…)
