Ethan Pineda, senior in the biol­ogy pro­gram and pur­su­ing a career as a physician’s assis­tant, proves that this feat is accom­plish­able, and that Ferris is the per­fect place to do it.

Pineda ini­tially chose Ferris because of the cam­pus size and the dis­tance from his home­town of Perry. He said it would allow him to get away from his home­town and start a new life. (more…)

The RSO existed on Ferris’ cam­pus for a cou­ple of decades, but dis­ap­peared in the early 1990s due to the music pro­gram and the entire uni­ver­sity tak­ing a major finan­cial hit. Progress toward get­ting the group for­mu­lated again was brought about by Ferris stu­dents. (more…)

On July 26, President Barack Obama inter­rupted sched­uled pro­gram­ming on TV (mean­ing the Bachelorette, in my case) to address the nation about debt issues; a count­down clock was pre­sented that scared the bejeezus out of me and I found myself call­ing my parents.

Western Michigan was shocked when a man in Grand Rapids went on a killing spree on July 7. Rodrick Shonte Dantzler shot seven peo­ple (two of whom were ex-girlfriends and one vic­tim was his own child) before shoot­ing him­self. (more…)
