State of Emergency

by Published: Mar 16, 2011

It happens without warning: One minute all is “normal” in the world and the next minute disaster.

On the morning of March 11, a 23-foot wall of water slammed into the Japanese coast and devastated the city of Sendai. An 8.9-magnitude earthquake, the largest to ever strike Japan, caused a massive tsunami that has killed more than 1,800 people and injured more than 1,900 people. (more…)

First Real Job

by Published: Feb 23, 2011

I am one of the fortunate seniors that have a job lined up after graduation in May.

Many of my friends have had trouble securing jobs after graduation and some have chosen to go to graduate school. For those students who do not wish to continue their education after graduation, the number of days before May 7 is dwindling quickly. The final 73 days of the semester will be stressful for many graduating seniors. (more…)

For the Ferris State men’s basketball team, that’s exactly what the last 8:03 of the Bulldogs’ victory over the nationally No. 3-ranked Findlay Oilers did. (more…)

Numbers Don’t Lie

Some say statistics can be manipulated to tell whatever story you want to tell.

During the Fall 2010 semester, Ferris State University’s enrollment of 14,381 students ranked ninth amongst the 15 public universities in Michigan. Ferris’ enrollment has grown by 14.36 percent since the Fall 2006 semester. It would make sense then that the tuition and room and board fees it charges would carry a similar ranking. However, this is not the case. (more…)
