Dump and Run
The eighth annual Dump and Run is May 5 -9. Students and community members can help Big Rapids community members in need by donating clothing, shoes, bedding, cleaning supplies, school supplies and non-perishable food.
Receptacles will be placed in all on-campus student housing locations and also at Venlo Place and the Immanuel Lutheran Church. The Immanuel Lutheran Church in Big Rapids coordinated the outreach effort.

Pancakes with the President
Pancakes with the President will take place at the Rock Café from 10 p.m. to midnight on Monday, May 5.
The annual event, hosted by Ferris State University’s Student Government, will allow students to enjoy food, games and prizes. Admission is free with a valid student ID.
Law Enforcement Academy’s volunteer excellence
The Law Enforcement Academy (LEA) of Ferris State University has logged more than 1,000 hours of community service during this academic year. The group of 42 students gives back to Big Rapids through community service for a variety of charitable organizations.
Currently, the students are working to become sport coaches for the Michigan Special Olympics in Big Rapids. In addition, the group has assisted the Big Rapids Habitat for Humanity by increasing its hours of operation through volunteering. Also, the LEA spends nights and weekends working with Our Brother’s Keeper, a shelter that provides temporary housing for the homeless.

OMSS PIGNIC
The Office of Multicultural Student Services (OMSS) will host their annual PIGNIC event from noon to 4 p.m. in the North Quad May 3.
The 25-year-old event brings current students, faculty, staff and alumni together for free food and music to celebrate the end of the academic year.
Mecosta-Osceola accepting donations after local apartment fire
The Mecosta-Osceola American Red Cross is accepting monetary donations for the victims of the fire at Village Green Apartments that occurred April 24.
Checks are to be made payable to the “Red Cross” and should include “Village Green Apartments” on the memo line.
Also, the Salvation Army of Big Rapids is collecting household goods. Items can be dropped off at the Corps office located at 325 Linden St.
Ferris State University already donated 200 meals at the Rock Café to assist the families affected by the fire.
