Ferris State University met with three Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference schools for the Bulldogs first league matches of the year.

“It’s always excit­ing get­ting into our con­fer­ence play, espe­cially work­ing so hard dur­ing the off­sea­son,” Bowler said. “It’s excit­ing to get on the field and get to put in the play what you’ve been work­ing on all off­sea­son.” (more…)

The same event that brought you Wiz Khalifa in 2010 is now bring­ing Nipsey Hussle and Dusty Mcfly for its third annual show.

A pre­vi­ous Kappa Showkase, hosted by the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, had a great turnout with rap­per Wiz Khalifa. He played to a sold-out venue at Williams Auditorium. (more…)

FSU men’s tennis team starts off strong in GLIAC play

Rolling in the GLIAC, the Ferris State University men’s ten­nis team swept this weekend’s matches against Tiffin University and Findlay University to stroll to 4–0 in con­fer­ence play.

This past Friday the Bulldogs trav­eled to Ohio to take on the Tiffin University Dragons and came away with an out­stand­ing vic­tory. (more…)

Blaming Trayvon Martin’s apparel is unsound reasoning

On March 22, mem­bers of Ferris’ NAACP and a num­ber of other stu­dents helped draw aware­ness to the death of Trayvon Martin with a Hoodie March in the quad.

The march was one of many nation­wide ral­lies protest­ing the shoot­ing of 17-year-old Martin by neigh­bor­hood watch vol­un­teer George Zimmerman. Public fig­ures such as for­mer Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm and the NBA’s Miami Heat have all been seen wear­ing dark hooded sweat­shirts in honor of Martin. (more…)

National survey shows pressure increase for freshman trying to pay for school

Many col­lege fresh­men have been feel­ing the pres­sures and chal­lenges of pay­ing for their edu­ca­tion more than ever.

According to a national sur­vey of fresh­men done by the University of California Los Angeles, the impacts of the eco­nomic down­turn are becom­ing over­whelm­ing for many stu­dents. Although the fresh­men at Ferris State University were not included in the sur­vey, the pres­sure is no less for them. (more…)

Two out of three students aren’t aware of what they’re borrowing

A recent sur­vey revealed col­lege stu­dents are not too knowl­edge­able when it comes to bor­row­ing loans to pay for their higher education.

The study by Young Invincibles, a U.S. national orga­ni­za­tion rep­re­sent­ing cur­rent issues of 18 to 34 year olds, found nearly two in three stu­dent loan bor­row­ers were sur­prised by some of the terms of their stu­dent loans. (more…)

Career Fair offers job preparation and tips

Eighty per­cent of all job open­ings aren’t adver­tised; most peo­ple get jobs through rec­om­men­da­tion. Three Career Fairs are hap­pen­ing through­out the week as a chance for stu­dents and alumni to meet future employers.

Ferris State University’s Career Services Spring 2012 Career Fair is held through­out the week of March 26–30. The com­mu­nity event is an oppor­tu­nity for stu­dents to learn skills that will pre­pare them for their future career. There are three Career Fairs dur­ing Career Week: Virtual Public Service Career Fair, Healthcare Career Fair and Business and Technology Career Fair. Many top employ­ers are par­tic­i­pat­ing in these events includ­ing Goodman, Enterprise, Buhler and Walbridge. (more…)

 
 

Succesful Seasons

Hockey continues Bulldog athletics season-long winning streak

It’s been a great year to be a Bulldog, and it seems to only be get­ting better.

The 2011-12 sea­son has been one of unques­tion­able suc­cess for the Bulldog Athletics pro­gram. FSU has dom­i­nated the GLIAC (and CCHA) in mul­ti­ple sports and has even gar­nered national atten­tion on sev­eral occa­sions. It’s been excit­ing to cover as a sports writer and prob­a­bly even more excit­ing to fol­low as a fan. (more…)
