A round-up of this week’s crime across the Ferris campus

Expired plate

On Nov. 3 at 9:50 p.m., offi­cers stopped a vehi­cle on Perry Street for hav­ing an expired plate. The dri­ver was found to have altered the tag and was ticketed.

Assault com­plaint

On Nov. 4 at 5:30 p.m., offi­cers inves­ti­gated an assault com­plaint in Bond Hall. One res­i­dent assaulted another res­i­dent. Housing moved par­ties to dif­fer­ent loca­tions and a war­rant request was sent to the prosecutor’s office.

Car bro­ken into

On Oct. 28 at 9:40 p.m., there was a report of a car bro­ken into in Lot 44. Sunglasses and a cell phone charger were taken.

Property dam­age

On Oct. 28 at 8 p.m., there was a report of dam­aged prop­erty in Brophy Hall. The dam­age was caused by room­mates play­ing with a ball and appeared to be acci­den­tal in nature.

Fake ID

On Oct. 29 at 11:40 p.m., there was a report of a per­son attempt­ing to use another person’s stu­dent ID card for a meal at the Rock Café.

Wallet stolen

On Oct. 31 at 10:30 a.m., there was a report of a wal­let taken out of a room in Cramer Hall. The theft occurred some­time the pre­vi­ous evening.

Car-bike acci­dent

On Oct. 29 at 8:30 p.m., there was a report of a car-bike acci­dent on the side­walk of State Street and Lot 33. The crash occurred at noon, but the bicy­clist reported the crash later that evening. Officers located the dri­ver of the auto­mo­bile to com­plete the crash report.

Laundry card theft

On Oct. 30 at 12:01 a.m., there was a report of a laun­dry card theft in East Campus Apartments. The card was left in the laun­dry room and was found by another res­i­dent who used the card improp­erly. The stu­dent was referred to the Office of Student Conduct.

Disorderly per­son

On Oct. 30 at 12:05 a.m., there was a report of a dis­or­derly per­son at the Rock Café. A stu­dent was yelling at another stu­dent and was removed from the build­ing by cam­pus police.

Reckless dri­ving

On Nov. 3 at 11:45 p.m., offi­cers stopped a vehi­cle for reck­less dri­ving on Campus Drive near Vandercook Hall. The sub­ject was lodged in the county jail.

MIP near Carlisle

On Nov. 3 at 2:45 a.m., offi­cers encoun­tered an intox­i­cated stu­dent out­side Carlisle Hall. The stu­dent was tick­eted for MIP and trans­ported to his res­i­dence hall.

OWI at the Gate

On Nov. 3 at 12:50 a.m., offi­cers stopped a vehi­cle in the Gate park­ing lot. The dri­ver was found to be intox­i­cated and was lodged in the county jail.

Drunk dri­ver hits hydrant

On Nov. 4 at 1:45 a.m., there was a report of a one-car acci­dent on State Street near Ferris Drive. The vehi­cle left the road­way and hit a fire hydrant. The dri­ver was located a short dis­tance away, found to be intox­i­cated and lodged in the county jail.

Two-car acci­dent

On Nov. 1 at 4:30 p.m., there was a report of a two-car acci­dent in Lot 36. A car back­ing out of a park­ing space was struck by another vehi­cle dri­ving through the lot.

Bike stolen

On Oct. 31 at 10:20 p.m., there was a report of a bike stolen from out­side Travis Hall.

Ticket Totals: From Oct. 30 through Nov. 6, the Department of Public Safety iden­ti­fied 378 vio­la­tors. Each vio­la­tor was tick­eted for a total of $6,170. Actual amount depends on whether the ticket was paid, voided or reduced.
