Classier Than This

No to the topless bar

by Published: Jun 18, 2012

Stanwood wants to establish a topless bar called Gentlemen 131 within the next year.

Have you seen our movie theatre, restaurants and shopping centers? No, of course you haven’t, because there are barely any of those as it is. To those of you saying this club will generate business which will lead to more jobs and profits, I say no way.

I have a lot of respect for the female population in this city and believe we are a little classier than working at a topless bar. I would hope most girls hold themselves to higher standards than taking off their shirt for a couple bucks. If this is true, the club would have a small selection of girls willing to work there.

I am not about to rip off my shirt to earn a couple extra dollars, just so I can run into the nasty guys who came in the bar to stare at me the next day in class. I have better things to do than prance around like a half-naked Barbie doll.

I did not come to college to work at topless bar. What kind of experience do you gain from that? It is not the path I want to be on. I would rather be taken out to dinner and have a guy actually remember my name rather than remember me by what I look like below the neck.

I believe this town has other ways to create jobs and should not create some boys’ club for those who do not know what it’s like to have a girlfriend.

There will be a sparse number of college students and the high school teenagers won’t be able to walk through the doors. That leaves creepy, old single men left wandering at the topless bar door.

This city should think about what businesses it should bring to the community before it turns into another empty building, again.
