FSU Women's basketball coach to leave for NCAA Division I
4 seasons. GLIAC coach of the year. Coached a First Team Academic All-American team.
FSU women’s basketball head coach Tracy Dorow has accepted a position as the head coach for Valparaiso University’s women’s basketball team. She will be the seventh head coach in the program’s history. The Athletic Department released an announcement Monday afternoon that the long time coach would be leaving.
“The school is a perfect fit for me and my family,” Dorow said. “From the minute I walked onto campus, I felt right at home.”
While at the helm for the Bulldogs, Dorow compiled a 232–163 overall record. This past season she coached FSU to a GLIAC regular-season championship and a berth in the NCAA tournament.
“This is a great opportunity, sad to see a head coach go, but it’s best for her,” junior forward Katy Fox said. “I’m confident that they [Ferris] will find somene good to replace her.”
Fox thinks that the team will be fine.
“We are really close as a team and we’ve overcome obstacles in the past,” Fox said.
As for a new coach, Ferris must begin the search for a replacement. Fox hasn’t heard any rumors of who it will be.
“We will have to know five or six weeks from now,” she said.
The Bulldogs finished the 2011-12 season with a 23–7 overall record.
