Home Sweet Home

The track and field team ran in front of a home crowd for the first time this season in the Bulldog Invitational. The Bulldogs ran well at Taggart Field and especially in the 1,500 meter run, as Tina Muir (first), Samantha Johnson (second) and Shelby Janutol (fourth) all finished in the top-five finishers in the event. Zoey Hohmann won the 400 meter run and finished a close second in the 200 meter run.

On the men’s side Spencer Gerber finished first in the 1,500 meter run along with Alex Best finishing first in the 3,000 meter run. It was an impressive outing all around for Ferris State University and next on the schedule is April 14 in the Hillsdale Outdoor Meet and the Don Kleinow Invitational.

Clutch play comes in handy for Bulldogs as they top Wayne State University

In the heat of their conference schedule, the Bulldog tennis players took to the court April 5 against GLIAC opponent Wayne State University. The team won an extremely close matchup against the Warriors by a final score of 5–4 in matches. Steven Roberts and Tyler Marengo came through as Roberts battled back after losing the first set and came away with a point for the Bulldogs in an intense three-set match.

Marengo also won his singles match and was a part of the only Bulldog pair that won a doubles matchup along with Jack Swan. This victory puts FSU with a 12–6 overall record and sporting a 7–1 GLIAC conference record as well as being ranked sixth overall in the Midwest Regional Rankings.

Next on the schedule is a road match-up against Grand Valley State University April 12 before heading off to the GLIAC Tournament beginning April 20. n
