The Ferris State Bulldogs are heading to the Frozen Four for the first time after a Midwest Regional Championship win over Cornell University by a score of 2–1.

All three goals in the game came during the third period. FSU got on the board first with a power play goal by Garrett Thompson eleven seconds into the period. The Big Red of Cornell tied it back up just over a minute later. And after surviving a five minute penalty kill, Jordie Johnson scored the game-winning goal, thanks to assists by Andy Huff and Cory Kane.

Ferris State will now face off in Tampa, Florida for the Frozen Four on April 5th. Read the March 28th edition of the Ferris State Torch for more coverage of this weekend’s series and continue to follow Ferris State Torch on Facebook and Twitter.
