Men’s ten­nis falls to Toledo

As the men’s ten­nis team hit the court to start off the 2012 sea­son, the University of Toledo Rockets ended up best­ing the Bulldogs 6–1. Ferris State University ended up tak­ing its only points on the fifth sin­gles match. However, even with the set­back the ten­nis team mem­bers turned their heads to the home opener against Davenport University Feb. 21 in Big Rapids at the FSU Racquet and Fitness cen­ter with a 2–1 over­all record. Results were not avail­able in time for press.

FSU hockey gar­ners Team of the Week honors

The Ferris State University hockey team’s win­ning streak has earned it Team of the Week hon­ors for the sec­ond time this sea­son. The Bulldogs took down the Notre Dame Fighting Irish a week­end ago before sweep­ing Bowling Green State University this past week­end. The team is cur­rently ranked No. 1 over­all as it con­tin­ues on its roll of 13 con­sec­u­tive non-losses, boast­ing a record of 10−0−3 in its past con­tests. FSU cur­rently leads the CCHA by a wide mar­gin and was the first team in the nation to reach the 20 win plateau. The Bulldogs’ next oppo­nent is the Western Michigan Broncos this upcom­ing weekend.

FSU women’s track nation­ally ranked

The track team entered this week with a rank­ing of No. 23 nation­ally and is the first time the Bulldogs have been ranked in recent years. This year’s squad is led by senior stand­out Tina Muir who is one of the most dec­o­rated run­ners in Big Rapids his­tory. Also in the top 25 rank­ings are six other GLIAC teams look­ing to make their mark dur­ing the sea­son. Grand Valley State leads the pack with the No. 1 over­all women’s track team. The track team’s next action is in the GLIAC indoor cham­pi­onships hosted by Findlay University Feb. 24—25.
