This weekend, the #1 Bulldog hockey, both in the CCHA and nationally, faceoff against Bowling Green State Falcons. The two teams already played one weekend series in Bowling Green, with Ferris securing the weekend sweep with a 4–0 and a 5–3 win. Bowling Green is currently sitting in last place in the CCHA conference standings with a 9−18−5 overall record while Ferris State enters the weekend with a 20−8−4 record. Ferris State last weekend became the first team in the NCAA Division 1 hockey to reach 20 wins in the season.
If Ferris secures the weekend sweep against the Falcons as well as Western Michigan losing a game in their away series against Lake Superior State, then Ferris will clinch a CCHA regular season championship. After the regular season, the Bulldogs will receive a first round bye for the CCHA playoffs if they maintain a top 4 spot in the CCHA standings.
