Plastic Musik: 1.12.11 (Video)

Created in 2002, Plastic Musik has evolved from three drum­mers to five multi-instrumentalists, a three piece rock out­fit, and a DJ. They played a ener­getic show filled with rec­og­niz­able songs and kept the crowd enter­tained all night. (more…)

Ferris Student Dies

Ferris State University fresh­man and North Star, Mich. native Aloysius “AJ” Huss, 19, died in a single-car acci­dent on Jan. 3.

The Gratiot County Sheriff’s Office reported that at approx­i­mately 12:30 p.m., Huss was trav­el­ing south­bound on Baldwin Road north of Johnson Road in North Star Township when he lost con­trol of his pickup truck, cross­ing the cen­ter line and hit­ting a tree. Huss was not wear­ing a seat­belt at the time of the crash. The acci­dent cur­rently remains under inves­ti­ga­tion. (more…)

 
 

Playing With Plastic

Plastic Musik, a group of musi­cians based out of Las Vegas, will be per­form­ing at Ferris to prove that instru­ments can be cre­ated from unlikely objects.

The group uses plas­tic tubes, laun­dry tubs, and var­i­ous other plas­tic objects to recre­ate well-known songs. They cover every­thing from Beethoven and Mozart to 80s clas­sics and hip-hop hits. Plastic Musik also uti­lizes a rev­o­lu­tion­ary prod­uct called “boomwhack­ers,” which are brightly col­ored musi­cal tubes. (more…)

Students, interns and res­i­dents near Ferris can now enjoy the com­pleted optom­e­try facility.

The Michigan College of Optometry (MCO) build­ing project, also known as The Center for Collaborative Healthcare Education, was offi­cially fin­ished on the planned date of Jan. 3, 2011. Faculty mem­bers were able to move in Jan. 3, as classes started on Jan. 10. (more…)

While most Ferris stu­dents look to make an impact after leav­ing school, for­mer Bulldog ath­lete Katie Loosvelt recently show­cased her tal­ents on the small screen as a trainer on the MTV show “I Used To Be Fat.”

Loosvelt, a native of Trenton and a for­mer Bulldog bas­ket­ball player from 2004-08, appeared on the pre­mier episode of MTV’s new real­ity show, where high school seniors are given a chance to work out with a trainer and get healthy before head­ing off to col­lege. (more…)

Depression Drown Out

Feeling a lit­tle depressed after the hol­i­days and dur­ing the win­ter months is a nat­ural reac­tion many peo­ple and stu­dents have this time of year.

Being down and hav­ing a feel­ing of anx­i­ety toward start­ing school, work, and a hec­tic sched­ule again is some­thing that can be con­trolled. There are many things peo­ple can do to alle­vi­ate some of their blues. (more…)

 
 

Manhandling the Competition

The Bulldogs snapped out of a three-game win­less funk with two dom­i­nat­ing road per­for­mances as they outscored Bowling Green University 7–2 in their two– game series sweep Jan. 7–8.

The sweep marks the first time Ferris has swept Bowling Green on its home ice since the 2002-03 sea­son. The vic­tory on Saturday was head coach Bob Daniels 300th win. (more…)
