Bulldogs Jump to Third in Conference
Sweep of BGSU moves Ferris ahead of Miami, Alaska
After sweeping Bowling Green in a road series over the weekend, the nationally No. 20-ranked Ferris hockey team moved into third in the CCHA standings.
Ferris improved its record to 11−8−4 overall and 8−6−3−2 in the conference. The Bulldogs jumped nationally No. 7-ranked Miami in the CCHA standings after the RedHawks were swept by Ohio State during the weekend. However, Ferris has played more conference games than any other team in the CCHA.
Ferris returns to the ice on Jan. 14 against nationally No. 8-ranked Michigan in Ann Arbor at 7:35 p.m. The team will host Michigan the following night in the series finale at 7:05 p.m. The Wolverines are second in the CCHA standings with a 10−4−1 conference record. (more…)
FSU Mourns Student Death
Marine Corps member and Ferris student dies
PFC Aloysius “AJ” Huss, Ferris State student and North Star, Mich. native, died Monday.
The Big Rapids Pioneer reported that Huss was involved in a single-car accident on Jan. 3.
Huss was freshman in General Studies at Ferris State University and joined the United States Marine Corps in August.
Funeral services will be held on Jan. 7 at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca Chapel, with visitation hours on Jan. 6.
The Ferris flag will be lowered at half staff in his honor on Jan. 7.
Men’s Basketball Falls to Eastern Michigan
FSU athletic teams continue to battle Division I opponents
For the second time this season, the Ferris State men’s basketball team battled a NCAA Division I opponent.
The Bulldogs fell 76–60 to the Eastern Michigan Eagles on Jan. 4 in Ypsilanti in a non-conference regular-season contest. Prior to the season, Ferris had played the Indiana Hoosiers in an exhibition contest and came up short in overtime. (more…)
