FSU to Undergo Campus-Wide Power Outage
Ferris State University’s Physical Plant and Consumers Energy have scheduled a campus-wide power outage for Dec. 23, 2011.
The power outage will occur around 9:00 a.m. with power expecting to be restored to the primary switchgear within 4–6 hours. Power will be fully restored to the campus on or before 8:00 p.m.
According to Physical Plant staff, the campus-wide power outage is required to safely update three primary switches located north of the Granger building. The switches, which are currently 600 amps, will be updated to 1200 amps to adjust to increased electrical usage throughout campus. Physical Plant Work Control Center staff will be available beginning 7:00 a.m. until campus utilities return to normal.
