FSU is on a streak in their conference as they continue to hold the top spot in their division of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Ferris went on the road to Ohio for the weekend to face Ohio Dominican University. FSU and ODU went to four sets, in which the Bulldogs claimed a 3–1 victory on Oct. 29. Junior middle hitter Anne Sutton led the Bulldogs offensive charge with 17 kills.

Senior libero Lisa Tobiczyk played stringent defense against ODU, recording 37 digs and almost matched a school record with 38 digs in a one game.

Senior Ashley Huntey recorded her eighth double-double this season with a 15 kill, 15 dig performance against ODU. In 23 matches this season, she is averaging a double-double with 12.8 kills and 10 digs a game.

The Bulldogs went on to slay the Dragons of Tiffin Oct. 30 with a 3–0 victory in their final road game of the trip.

The nationally 12th-ranked Bulldogs are now 21–2 and 15–1 in conference play.

Ferris is preparing to finish the regular season with three remaining road trips scheduled. Ferris will face Saginaw Valley State Nov. 2. This is the first time the Bulldogs have travelled to SVSU. SVSU is second in the North Division of the GLIAC, sitting at 13–3 in the conference and 15–8 overall.

“As a team we definitely want to go out strong and on top with confidence,” Huntey said.

Huntey said the team wants to remain focused on the regular season, taking one game at a time.

The Bulldogs have faced the Cardinals this season at the Ewigleben Sports Arena, where Ferris snatched a 3–0 win over SVSU.

The match between SVSU and Ferris will begin at 7 p.m. in University Center, Mich.

Finally, the Bulldogs will wrap the regular season up as they face Northwood University and Lake Superior State University on their courts. Ferris has not lost to either team this year. The matches will begin at 7 p.m. and 2 p.m., respectively.

Once the regular season is complete, Ferris will begin GLIAC Tournament play. Ferris hopes to be the top seed in the tournament, but GLIAC South Division leader Hillsdale, is currently 16–1 in league play this season. Ferris gave nationally eighth-ranked Hillsdale their only GLIAC loss this season.

If Ferris can win all three of their final regular season matches, the Bulldogs will earn the top seed in the GLIAC tournament. The top seeded team hosts the first round of the GLIAC Tournament, and if they win that first round, they will host the whole tournament.

“Being able to play in our home gym for the first time would be an honor,” Huntey said. “It would be a sense of pride for us as a team and then especially as seniors who have never accomplished that since we’ve been here.”

For seniors Huntey and Tobiczyk, being the top seed in the GLIAC would be the first time they have ever hosted the first round of the tournament in their four years as Bulldogs.
