Literature In Person Reading Series is presenting “New Fiction” by George Dila and Rebecca Thaddeus.

The presentation is set for Thursday, Nov. 8 at 4 p.m. with George Dila reading “Nothing More to Tell” along with a Book talk and signing at Great Lakes Book & Supply at 7:30 p.m. in Rankin Founders’ Room (238).

Dila’s stories in “Nothing More to Tell” represents the combined effects of history, family and society on the men and women of Michigan’s small towns. Dila directs the activities of Ludington Visiting Writers, a literary program he founded in 2001. His publications include “The End of the World” and numerous essays, articles and stories in national and regional periodicals.

Rebecca Thaddeus has taught in the Department of Languages and Literature since 1991. Thaddeus’ first novel was “One Amber Bead”. She is the co-author of several composition and critical thinking textbooks under the name Elizabeth Stolarek.

Accounting Office Month-end close

The Accounting Office Month-end will take place Friday, Nov. 4. All accounting entries must be submitted to the Accounting Office by Thursday, Nov. 3 before 5 p.m. to ensure being posted for the month of October.

For requisitions, purchase orders and direct pays where the transition date is in October, it must also be completed and approved by Nov. 3. If they are left in an incomplete status, they will be removed from the system. If they are complete but not approved, the originator will be forced to change the transaction date as banner will not allow posting of a document using a transaction date where the period is closed.

Any questions or concerns can be directed to the Accounting Department at ext. 2167.

Online course wait list

A new online course wait list process was introduced on Oct. 31; students are now instructed to visit a listed web address.

The web address is in place of the former message where students had to call “231−591−2340.” The page they are directed to asks if the student is on main campus, online or off-campus. Definitions are next to each for clarity.

If they are an off-campus or online student, they are instructed to call the appropriate office. After the first three weeks of registration, these students will also be sent directly to the form page as the process of filing online courses from the wait list will have begun – any student can now put themselves on the wait list.

The page can be found at www.ferris.edu/online/waitlist. For more information, contact Jennifer Hegenauer at ext. 2502.
