FSU men’s golfer earns GLIAC weekly honor

Sophomore Trent Davison was recently hon­ored as the GLIAC Men’s Golf Athlete of the Week. Davison tied for sec­ond place over­all in a field of 135 com­peti­tors as he led the Bulldogs to a runner-up fin­ish in the NCAA Fall Midwest Regional (Sept. 25–26). He was just three strokes behind the tour­na­ment cham­pi­ons as he recorded two rounds of 72 to fin­ish at 144 overall.

Women’s ten­nis match post­poned

The Ferris State University women’s ten­nis team was forced to post­pone their Sept. 30 match against GLIAC rival Grand Valley State University. The match was post­poned due to a power out­age on cam­pus which affected the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center. Due to weather con­di­tions, the match could not be played out­doors. As of press time, the match has not yet been rescheduled.

Men’s ice hockey picked to fin­ish sev­enth in CCHA

On Sept. 28, the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) released their annual pre­sea­son polls. FSU was selected to fin­ish tied for sev­enth by the league’s media and ninth by the league’s coaches. Notre Dame holds the top spot in both polls while Bowling Green was picked to fin­ish at the bot­tom of the 11-team con­fer­ence by the coaches and media alike.

FSU foot­ball player gar­ners GLIAC recog­ni­tion

FSU junior defen­sive end Cody Groulx earned GLIAC Special Teams Player of the Week for his play against Tiffin Sept. 24. With the Bulldogs trail­ing the Dragons 7–3 late in the first quar­ter, Groulx blocked a Tiffin punt and recov­ered it in the end­zone for his first career touch­down. FSU went on to claim a 48–13 con­fer­ence vic­tory. This marks the sec­ond con­sec­u­tive week a Bulldog player earned the league honor. Freshman kicker Victor Bodrie received the award the pre­vi­ous week for his five-field goal col­le­giate debut against Ohio Dominican.

Early reg­is­tra­tion for fit­ness classes now open

The FSU Racquet and Fitness Center recently opened reg­is­tra­tion for the sec­ond ses­sion fit­ness classes to indi­vid­u­als with an active mem­ber­ship card or an active stu­dent ID card. The early reg­is­tra­tion period began Sept. 27 and will last until Oct. 9, at which point reg­is­tra­tion will be open to every­one. Those reg­is­ter­ing early will receive a 20 per­cent dis­count if they sign-up for two classes a week and a 25 per­cent dis­count if they sign-up for three classes a week. Full pay­ment must be received at time of reg­is­tra­tion. Classes offered include Zumba and spin­ning. Call ext. 2212 for com­plete class schedules.
