Bulldogs’ Title Bid Falls Short

Ferris receives bid to Division II NCAA Tournament

The Bulldogs are still in search of their first GLIAC Tournament Championship since 2006 after los­ing 73–71 to the Wayne State Warriors on Sunday.

Despite the loss, the Bulldogs received an at-large bid to the Division II NCAA Tournament. Ferris is the sixth seed in the Midwest region and its first round oppo­nent is none other than Wayne State. The Bulldogs and Warriors will rematch on March 12 in the open­ing round of the national tour­na­ment at Bellarmine University in Louisville.

Bulldog senior for­ward and GLIAC Player of the Year Justin Keenan hit a jumper with 10 sec­onds left to tie the game 71–71. Warrior sopho­more Mike Hollingsworth scored the game-winning bas­ket on a tip-in with one sec­ond left to give Wayne State its first con­fer­ence title since 1999.

Hollingsworth led the Warriors with 22 points and 15 rebounds. Keenan led the Bulldog charge with 25 points and 12 rebounds in his final game at Wink Arena.
