Manhandling the Competition

The Bulldogs snapped out of a three-game winless funk with two dominating road performances as they outscored Bowling Green University 7–2 in their two– game series sweep Jan. 7–8.

The sweep marks the first time Ferris has swept Bowling Green on its home ice since the 2002-03 season. The victory on Saturday was head coach Bob Daniels 300th win.

The first game ended in a 4–1 Bulldog victory with sophomore Kyle Bonis scoring twice and sophomore Matthew Kirzinger and senior Todd Pococke recording the other goals for the away team.

Ferris finished off the sweep by a 3–1 margin as senior Zach Redmond, sophomore Travis Ouellette, and junior Jordie Johnston would all light the lamp for the Bulldogs as they scored three straight goals to come back from an early 1–0 deficit. Coach Bob Daniels was very proud of his team’s competition level.

“I’m just proud of our guys that we were able to come back after a win last night and that we didn’t sit back, we came out tonight,” said Daniels.

Ferris will be looking to continue its strong skating as they prepare for an away-home series against No. 7-ranked University of Michigan. U of M has won five of its past six games with its only loss coming in overtime.

“With a big weekend coming up with Michigan these (past two wins) will lead to a much more pleasant ice arena,” said Daniels.

Ferris will be hosting the series finale at Ewigleben Ice Arena on Saturday, Jan. 15.

The nationally No. 19-ranked Bulldogs will have their work cut out for them if they want to defend their home ice as the Wolverines are currently perfect as they boast a 9−0−2 record. n

    Manhandling, ‘eh?

Hopefully the Bulldogs can get Daniels his 301 and 302 against the Wolverines.
