The Bulldogs showed what they were capa­ble of Saturday, as they upset the No. 19 nationally-ranked Findlay Oilers in thrilling fash­ion 86–77.

Ferris junior for­ward Justin Keenan dis­played why he is one of the best play­ers in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) as he scored a career-high 35 points. Keenan has won four straight GLIAC North Division “Player of the Week” hon­ors. (more…)

FFA Negotiation Critical

Ferris Faculty Association discusses critical issues ascontracts near expiration

The Ferris Faculty Association held their “Critical Updates on Negotiations” meet­ing to dis­cuss issues asso­ci­ated with achiev­ing a new contract.

The FFA is an affil­i­ated unit of the Michigan and National Education Associations that con­sists of both fac­ulty and staff mem­bers, includ­ing the university’s administration.

Professor in man­u­fac­tur­ing & engi­neer­ing tech­nol­ogy and pres­i­dent of the Ferris Faculty Association James Rumpf said the meet­ing was “pri­mar­ily an update.” He said the goal of the FFA and the admin­is­tra­tion is to have a con­tract in place by the end of the spring 2010 semes­ter. The Festival of the Arts is still in full swing with many events com­ing up this week.

Students can pur­sue a hobby or inter­est by set­ting up a Registered Student Organization on campus.

Dennis Boyd Jr., chair­per­son of the Student Leadership and Activities Advisory Council (SLAAC) and senior in the new media print­ing and pub­lish­ing pro­gram, said many RSOs are started as hobby groups.

RSOs are set up based on inter­ests that con­sist of a vari­ety of things such as sports, pol­i­tics, faith, etc. (more…)

Letter From the Editor: No Batteries Necessary

I really hope that the lit­er­ary mark of our life­time won’t involve vam­pires or wizards.

I enjoyed read­ing the Harry Potter book series immensely and feel that the draw they cre­ated to get young peo­ple read­ing is impor­tant. While I’m not a par­tic­u­lar fan of any­thing to do with vam­pires falling in love with non-vampires and were­wolves who get mixed up in all of it, there can be no doubt that read­ing some­thing is bet­ter than read­ing noth­ing.
