Bulldogs suffer setbacks on Saturday

It probably was a tough day to be a Bulldog fan on Saturday as three FSU athletic teams suffered losses. Here is a recap of the football, hockey and volleyball teams’ games from the weekend.

Football
With a winning record on the line on the final Saturday of the season, the Ferris State football team suffered a 41–35 loss at Northwood. (more…)

Annual fall concert to feature country music artist

Autumn aLive 2010 brings country artist Joe Nichols to Ferris State University as the headliner for this year’s performance.

Ginell Narvaiz, 2010 Music Industry Management Association (MIMA) booking agent, explained the amount of work that goes into putting on a show as large as Autumn aLive. The show takes almost a full year to plan, including time spent during the summer. (more…)

Asinine Advising

Students often complain about not getting enough help from their advisors

I have heard a vast multitude of horror stories from both friends and strangers about having issues with their advisors.

Students being one class short of being able to graduate, not having enough classes over the 300 level to graduate, taking classes that they did not even need, and being told a required course transferred when it really didn’t are just a few examples of these problems. (more…)

Students voiced their opinions on controversial topics Nov. 3 at “Free Speech, When It Goes Too Far.”

Ferris drops fourth-straight with loss against Michigan Tech

The Bulldogs couldn’t shake their recent slide as they dropped their fourth-straight game with a 28–16 loss to Michigan Tech in the home finale for Ferris.

On Senior Day for the Bulldogs, the seniors didn’t have much to celebrate as the Huskies came out victorious over Ferris for the eighth-straight time, with the last Bulldog victory coming in 2002. (more…)

 
 

Make the Call Home

Though parents seem to check in too often, they deserve the time of day

As I finished up my senior year of high school, I could not wait to get my freedom.

Sure, I loved my parents and my home, but there was just something so enticing about a fresh start, about making my own decisions, about essentially having my own place to stay and being able to keep it how I wanted it. (more…)

The Bulldogs shocked the seemingly unbeatable No. 1 nationally-ranked Miami (Ohio) RedHawks with two dramatic victories.

“I was very happy with the win and it meant a lot to the team because obviously Miami has a terrific program,” said Ferris head coach Bob Daniels. “It meant a little bit more because it was Miami.” (more…)
