Bulldogs sweep No. 1 Miami in weekend series at home

The Bulldogs shocked the seem­ingly unbeat­able No. 1 nationally-ranked Miami (Ohio) RedHawks with two dra­matic vic­to­ries in a series sweep over the weekend.

Much prepa­ra­tion went into this series because of the com­pe­ti­tion and the oppor­tu­nity to poten­tially upset the top team in the coun­try. (more…)

The aver­age col­lege stu­dent is socially obsessed.

Whether someone’s the life of the party or tex­ting in the library while he should be study­ing, stu­dents are always communicating.

Recently, one tool has more ade­quately ful­filled stu­dents’ desire for human con­tact, espe­cially for those with loved ones or friends far away. For those look­ing for more than the casual text with a friend or the reg­u­lar phone call to the sig­nif­i­cant other at home, and the excru­ci­at­ing real­iza­tion of sep­a­ra­tion that comes with it, Skype has been the answer. Faculty Pass Tentative Contract Agreement

The Ferris Faculty Association has rat­i­fied the ten­ta­tive con­tract agree­ment with a vote of 186 to 57.

The agree­ment will now go to the FSU Board of Trustees to be voted on.

Voting for fac­ulty closed Tuesday at 4 p.m. and the FFA Executive Board counted the votes.

A new Michigan law will now leave drunk dri­ving offend­ers ham­mered with greater fines.

Effective Oct. 31, 2010, Michigan’s new “super drunk” law is the result of Gov. Jennifer Granholm’s approval of Senate Bill 1134 and House Bill 4289. (more…)

Ferris State stu­dents will get dra­matic this week with the pro­duc­tion of Hairspray pre­mier­ing tomor­row night.

“Hairspray is a good show and it just became avail­able,” said Katherine LaPietra, FSU the­atre pro­fes­sor and direc­tor of the pro­duc­tion. “A lot of stu­dents seem to like it and know it.” (more…)

Like the hands on a clock, his­tory con­tin­u­ously comes full cir­cle time and time again. Think about how many times some­thing has hap­pened to you and you get an instant feel­ing of déjà vu. Ferris upsets Michigan, but drops second game of series to split

Ferris State took a week­end split against pre­vi­ously nationally-ranked No. 4 University of Michigan in a hard fought con­fer­ence matchup.

The Bulldogs topped the Wolverines at the Ewigleben Ice Arena in a shootout win on Oct. 29. The offi­cial score of the match was reg­is­tered as a 2–2 over­time tie, with a shootout win. (more…)

Former Ferris student hopes to raise interest of dance with students

Patti Critchfield, Ferris alum­nus and pre­vi­ous con­tes­tant on America’s Got Talent, plans on using her skills and expe­ri­ence to pro­vide dance work­shops and even­tu­ally open a dance stu­dio in Big Rapids.

“Without my expe­ri­ences at Ferris State, through­out life I would have been just another flower in a field of dreams,” said Critchfield about her time at Ferris. (more…)

Optometry building project forces lane closures on State Street

North bound and south bound State Street will have lane clo­sures through Nov. 6 because of con­struc­tion on the Michigan College of Optometry project.

On the North bound side of State Street, the West lane will be closed from Perry Street to Ferris Drive through Nov. 6. The west lane on the South bound side of State Street will be closed from Perry Street to Ferris Drive from Nov. 3 through Nov. 6. (more…)

After get­ting throt­tled by Grand Valley State the pre­vi­ous week, the Bulldogs were dec­i­mated by turnovers as they came up short against GLIAC foe Indianapolis on Saturday.

With a 33–20 lead going into the fourth quar­ter, the Bulldogs allowed 13 unan­swered points in the final quar­ter to give the Greyhounds a 37–33 vic­tory. (more…)
