The Bulldog women’s basketball team dropped its first conference game on Thursday but bounced back in the second conference on Saturday.

On Saturday, the Bulldogs faced Ohio Dominican. Ferris started off slow but managed to gain the lead halfway through the second half and didn’t look back.

Senior forward Tiara Adams was the leading scorer for the Bulldogs with 17 points, 10 rebounds and three steals. Senior center Andrea Clancy had 11 points and sophomore forward/center Katy Fox had 10 points.

“One of our keys to victory was to get it inside to the post players as much as possible,” said Clancy. “And our guards certainly did that.”

Adams, Fox, and Clancy combined for 38 points while the Bulldogs held a 36–12 edge in points-in-the-paint.

The Bulldogs had a 45.1 percent field goal average, making 23 of 51 attempts. Ferris ultimately came out on top against Ohio Dominican, winning the game 70–64.

“The first half was a little shaky,” Clancy said. “But after halftime we came out with great intensity and energy that got us some great stops on defense.”

Thursday, the Bulldogs hit a rough patch at their league season-opener against Tiffin. The Dragons forced the Bulldogs to turn over the ball 21 times and held them to a 43.8 field goal percentage.

In the second half, the Bulldogs improved their shooting percentage to 50, but it wasn’t enough to stop the Dragons. Ferris would drop its first GLIAC contest 75–65.

Although they lost, many players showed up to play. Junior guard/forward Kelsey DeNoelles had a team high 12 points and Adams tallied 11 points and six rebounds. Clancy contributed eight points along with seven points from junior guard/forward Lindsay Pettit.

The Bulldogs are now 4–3 overall and 1–1 in the conference. The Bulldogs will try to continue the momentum from the Ohio Dominican win into a contest at Hillsdale on Tuesday before returning home to play Northwood on Saturday. n
