The Bulldogs women’s basketball team notched its third consecutive win on Nov. 24th by defeating St. Joseph’s on the road, increasing their record to 3–1 overall.

The Bulldogs were strongest in the second half, but still held the lead throughout the entire game. They stopped the Pumas in their tracks and outscored St. Joseph’s 37–22 in the final half.

“Our defense was awesome, we focused on their top scorers and shut them down,” said senior center Andrea Clancy. “They hit a couple threes, but after that we made sure we got to the shooters and closed the gaps so they couldn’t get to the basket. We also focused on communication for 40 minutes, which is key to great defense.”

Senior forward Tiara Adams had 13 points and 14 rebounds, junior guard/forward Lindsey Pettit had 11 points and eight boards and senior guard Becci Houdek had eight points and eight assists. Leading the Bulldogs was junior guard/forward Kelsey DeNoyelles, who racked up 18 points, with four of those shots being three-pointers. The Bulldogs won the game 74–47.

On Nov. 23, the Bulldogs traveled to Illinois to face the Lewis Flyers. After the Flyers took the early lead, the Bulldogs battled back to tighten the game. The Bulldogs had a strong defensive edge, as they tallied nine steals during the game along with having an edge in rebounds, 40–34. The Flyers also turned over the ball 20 times. Adams led Ferris with 14 points and 11 boards while DeNoyelles came in close behind with 12 points and junior guard/forward Tricia Principe tossed in 11 points.

Principe had two last-minute free throws to help seal the 55–52 victory for the Bulldogs.

“Our first road trip of the year was great. We got two big regional wins that gave us a great start to our season,” said Clancy. “We had four games in five days, so it was a challenge, but we all played so well that we could keep fresh bodies on the floor.”

The Bulldogs will have a break until they get into conference play against GLIAC foes as they host Tiffin this Thursday and then Ohio Dominican on Saturday. n
