The Right to Choose

by Published: Aug 25, 2010

We all make choices in life that define who we are.

We choose between something as simple as whether to eat Lucky Charms or Cheerios for breakfast, to more complicated choices such as what type of vehicle to buy. Each choice we make has some impact on our lives; be it large or small. In many instances, our choices also have an effect on the people around us and can even affect people we do not know. Six Ways to Save

A guide to making college more affordable

by Published: Aug 25, 2010

Rent or borrow used textbooks– Besides room and board, textbooks are a major college expense that hits most students’ pockets hard. Buying brand new textbooks each semester can cost hundreds of dollars and become financially draining by the end of the year. Websites such as chegg.com and bookrenter.com give students an affordable alternative to help avoid high costs in college bookstores.

Research your major– At some point, most college students decide to change their major. This often results in having to take more courses and ultimately means more years spent paying tuition. Before choosing a major, research its future career potential. Is this something you could see yourself doing ten years from now? Asking this could save you from paying off long-term college loans. (more…)

Experience?

It’s hard to get a job without any

by Published: Aug 25, 2010

This summer I ran into a problem that many people have been struggling with more and more.

Employers aren’t accepting people off the street like many applicants hope. Employers requiring experience for jobs expect the candidate to have experience for the job before being hired. It’s a Catch-22; without experience you can’t get a job, and you can’t get experience without a job. So how does a person get experience for a job if the employers will not hire anyone in the first place? (more…)

It’s an Experience

by Published: Aug 25, 2010

The start of a new semester means a fresh start and a new adventure.

With the new beginning comes the stress of moving in, buying books, printing schedules, finding buildings, and adjusting to life in a different place. It is not necessarily an easy adjustment to make and for some people it’s flat out terrible. (more…)

BP Armageddon

Forethought may be the key to survival

by Published: Aug 25, 2010

As the movie ‘Armageddon’ played recently on my TV. during a dreary, overcast day, I came to a realization.

That realization being, if God-forbid, anything even remotely close to the story line happened in real life, we as a people, are done for. The human race will be adios, toast, stick a fork in us because this goose is cooked. (more…)

Fifteenth-year head coach Tia Brandel-Wilhelm hopes last year’s success will help the new starters transition into their roles as they know not only what is to be expected of them, but of the team.
