Big Rapids offers unique ways of having fun

Big Rapids offers a variety of activities for students to do in many fun and unique locations.

I have heard so many students on campus declare that Big Rapids is a boring city. Being bored is an option, not a sealed fate to the Ferris State student. This is especially true if you enjoy the out-of-doors.

Ferris’ campus sits right next to the Muskegon River. The river alone offers many opportunities to a student looking for a good time. Go tubing, canoeing, kayaking, or if you are not a fan of water, take a scenic walk or bike ride down the Riverwalk.

Big Rapids is home to several parks. Students can plan a picnic with someone they are close to, or just get in touch with your inner child and go play on the swings.

For those who are interested in playing sports, but are not on a varsity team, Ferris offers intramural sports year round. Get a team together, or if you do not know that many people, sign-up as a free agent so a team who is looking for more players can add you to their team.

Get some friends together, or make new ones, and go play disc-golf. It is something many people have not tried and students can have a good time without any practice what so ever.

Hungerford Lake offers a multitude of other opportunities for students and it is only a ten minute drive from campus. Hungerford Lake offers camping, fishing, and hiking/biking/horse riding trails that run miles into the forest.

There is a multitude of fun and inexpensive ways a student can find fun in Big Rapids.

Personally, I would rather spend $8 to go tubing than spend the day on the couch. n
