The Bulldogs are looking to surprise everyone

The Ferris women’s golf team will kick off the spring sea­son ranked 23rd in the Golf World/National Golf Coaches Association Division II Coaches’ Poll.

During the fall part of the sea­son, the Bulldogs fin­ished sixth or bet­ter in three tour­na­ments. The best out­ing dur­ing the fall was a third-place result at the Northern Arizona Mountain Shootout. Sophomore Erin Fuchik said the team does not feel any added pres­sure being ranked in the top 25. Ferris Reacts to Health Care Reform

History was made Sunday when the U.S. House of Representatives approved the long-debated health care reform and passed the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

The pas­sage of the bill con­cludes the nearly year-long attempt by President Obama and Democratic law­mak­ers to reform the nation’s $2.5 tril­lion health care sys­tem. (more…)

Census for Students

The 2010 Census is cur­rently tak­ing place and col­lege stu­dents are required to fill out forms with the rest of America.

The United States Constitution requires that a Census count be taken every 10 years of every­one in the United States. Both cit­i­zens and non-citizens are counted. Forms will be mailed this month to stu­dents liv­ing off cam­pus and April-May forms will be deliv­ered to stu­dents liv­ing on-campus (more…)

 
 
 

Lifting for Cash

Annual football Lift-A-Thon to take place

The Ferris State men’s foot­ball team will be hold­ing their 28th annual foot­ball Lift-A-Thon fundraiser on March 26.

This year’s Lift-A-Thon will fea­ture the play­ers par­tic­i­pat­ing in a bench press com­pe­ti­tion, pro shut­tle run, 20-yard sprint, tug of war, and tal­ent show. The play­ers will be com­pet­ing by posi­tion groups. Ferris State head coach Jeff Pierce said those attend­ing should expect a very com­pet­i­tive atmos­phere. (more…)

Student House Padlocked

The Big Rapids City Commission voted to pad­lock a house located on 120 Locust St., occu­pied by Delta Chi mem­bers, due to numer­ous noise violations.

Responding to party com­plaints on Sept. 8 and 19 and a dis­turb­ing the peace com­plaint on Nov. 22, the Big Rapids Department of Public Safety sug­gested the fra­ter­nity house be pad­locked begin­ning May 9. (more…)
