Dogs Defeat Findlay

The Bulldogs snap an eight-game win­less streak with a 2–1 victory

The Ferris soc­cer team defeated the Findlay Oilers 2–1 on Sunday to end an eight-game win­less streak.

Freshman mid­fielder Hillary Procunier scored her first career goal just 2 min­utes, 36 sec­onds into the game. The team built off of the quick start and car­ried the play for most of the first half. Sophomore for­ward Bri Borgman scored in the twelfth minute for the Bulldogs. Borgman leads the team with nine goals this season.

Findlay responded with a goal by Sara Jones toward the end of the first half. The Bulldogs took a 2–1 lead into half­time and nei­ther teamed scored in the sec­ond half. Senior goalie Kari Alsager recorded five saves for the Bulldogs in the win­ning effort.

Ferris had not won since defeat­ing Ashland 6–1 on Sept. 18. The vic­tory was the sec­ond for the team so far this season.

The Bulldogs improved their record to 2−11−2 for the year. The team is 2−8−1 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

The Bulldogs have just three con­tests left this sea­son and they are all at home. Two of the remain­ing three games are against teams that have yet to lose in con­fer­ence play: Grand Valley State and Saginaw Valley State. The team’s next con­test is against Saginaw Valley State on Oct. 23 at 4:00 p.m.
