A round up of Summer 2009 crime across the FSU campus

Uninvited Guests

On July 20, there was a report of a break­ing and enter­ing at the South Campus Apartments. A nine­teen year old male was iden­ti­fied and arrested for home inva­sion. He was lodged in the Mecosta County Jail.

No Peeking

On Aug. 11, a nine­teen year old male was observed win­dow peek­ing at Helen Ferris Hall. He was arrested and lodged in the Mecosta County Jail. Further inves­ti­ga­tion responded in the dis­cov­ery of child porn on the sus­pects com­puter. A war­rant has been issued by the prosecutor’s office.

No Trespassing

On Aug. 21, Ferris State offi­cers assisted the Big Rapids Police with a break­ing and enter­ing on Madison Avenue. Five sus­pects were appre­hended at the scene and lodged in the Mecosta County Jail.

Look Both Ways!

On Aug. 28 at 6:50 p.m., Ferris State offi­cers assisted the Big Rapids Police with a car/pedestrian crash at State and South Street. The pedes­trian was trans­ported to the Mecosta County Medical Center by the EMS. Witnesses stated that the pedes­trian ran out in front of the car.

Smash Up

On Sept. 1 at 9 a.m., there was a report of a two-car crash in lot 71.

Drunk Driver

On Aug. 30 at 1:50 p.m., a vehi­cle was stopped on South Street near State Street, for strik­ing the curb. The dri­ver was intox­i­cated and lodged in the Mecosta County Jail for (Operating While Intoxicated) OWI.

Pedestrian Flee

On Aug.31 at 3:30 p.m., there was a report of a car/pedestrian crash on N. Campus Drive, west of Hallisy Hall. The pedes­trian walked into the side of the car dri­ving down the road. The pedes­trian fled the scene upon police arrival.

Hit and Run

On Aug. 27 at 6 p.m., there was a hit and run in lot 4.

Unpleasant Surprise

On Sept. 1 at 2:40 a.m., there was a hit and run in lot 39. There was dam­age to the parked car found by the owner.

Two Car Crash

On Aug. 29 at 3 p.m., there was a two-car crash in lot 3.

MIP

On Aug. 29 at 12:40 a.m., there was a report of a (Minor in Possession) MIP in McNerny Hall. One sub­ject was tick­eted for the MIP. Two sev­en­teen year old females were turned over to their parents.

A Total

On Aug. 26 through September 3, Ferris State Officers have responded to eleven mar­i­juana com­plaints, result­ing in: two MIPs, eight refer­rals to the OSC, and six war­rant request by Mecosta County Prosecutor’s Office.

Pedestrian Notice

Since August, over 4,500 pedes­trian warn­ings have been given out. Since then, two pedes­tri­ans have been struck by vehi­cles. Pedestrians: please be safe, cau­tious, and alert when out walking.
